Will Smith as Neo??

Hi all,

I typed in Matrix the other day on the Wiki, and to my surprise found that
Keanu Reeves was not the first choice to play Neo!
Will Smith was first, and then Nicholas Cage!

Will Smith?? What a terrible choice, the guy would have ruined the
character, and Nic Cage, he just doesn't fit the role.
And Janet Jackson also turned down a role! What were they thinking... - was
this as Trinity, if Will had accepted the role?

All the other characters were inspired choices, but I just can't see how
they could have casted Will or Janet Jackson in a role.
Who else apart from Keanu could have played Neo.
